.pptx · PowerPoint (PPTX)
Open .PPTX slides in your browser
Open a .pptx in your browser — no upload, no signup, free. The file stays on your device. Filelathe renders slides, images, and charts locally. No Office.
How it works
- Drop the .pptx or use Choose file. Filelathe checks the ZIP package in your tab for ppt/slides/slide parts.
- pptx-wasm renders the deck to a canvas in the browser.
- Move between slides with the on-page controls. Shapes, images, and charts render locally. No Office install and no upload to a converter.
Filelathe opens .pptx with pptx-wasm in your tab: navigate slides, see charts and images, and keep the file on-device. No Office install and no upload.
How to open a .pptx file without PowerPoint
Open Filelathe and drop the deck, or use Choose file. The canvas viewer walks the slides in your tab. You do not need PowerPoint, Keynote, or an account.
A 97–2003 .ppt is not rendered this way. That format is listed on the .ppt page.
Open PPTX on a Chromebook, Mac, or iPad
Use the site in Chrome, Safari, or Firefox. Choose file covers Chromebook, Mac, and iPad; drop covers the desktop. The wasm renderer runs locally in that browser.
Does my .pptx get uploaded?
pptx-wasm draws the slides in your tab from the package you opened. Choosing the tool window may send the filename, the type, and samples to the API. That is not an upload-to-convert service. See private in-browser viewing.
View vs convert: what stays on your device
Filelathe does not convert the deck to PDF, video, or images for download. You view the slides on the canvas. The package is not rewritten.
What you can and can't do
You can
- Navigate slides on a canvas rendered by pptx-wasm.
- See shapes, images, and charts that the renderer can draw from the package.
- Keep the file in the tab, with no PowerPoint install.
You can't
- Edit slides or export a new .pptx or PDF.
- Guarantee animations, transitions, embedded video, or every SmartArt.
- Open a classic .ppt this way. Those stay on the OLE listing — see .ppt.
